Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based, effective therapeutic treatment which has been widely used to treat trauma and other distressing life events. Compared to traditional talk therapy, EMDR therapy can provide quicker and immediate results.
This approach can be effective in addressing traumatic events from childhood or adulthood, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, as well as other problematic behaviors.
How does EMDR work?
By using alternating bilateral stimulation (BLS) we are able to tap into both sides of your brain to activate distressing memories, reprocessing them and allowing normal healing to occur. It allows the brain to recognize the event happened in the past rather than it still occurring in the present. The memory loses its negative charge removing the pain and suffering.
